What does a typical day for you consist of?

The day to day will be different whether if you are an individual contributor or someone that manages people. I will focus on the first one. As a recruiter, you will receive roles that need to hire for from your company’s hiring manager. Once you have a full understanding of the requirements and skill set for this role, you will create a strategy to identify and find the right candidates to place. There will be a lot “research” of where these type of talent reside before you engage and assess them and facilitate their entire interview and candidate experience.

What advice would you give someone considering this career?

Talk with your career counselor at school to see what electives or activities can help you either learn more about the world or recruiting and human resources. Some classes I enjoyed include communication, speech, writing classes, psychology, economic even improv classes. If your parents’ network include those that are in this profession, set up an informational interview to learn more.

What is a book or movie that has inspired you?

Shawshank Redemption (Friendship, Perseverance, Ability to pivot and change your life)

Do you (or your company) offer internships or job shadow opportunities to high school students? If so, how would a student go about applying for one of those?

Not at this time.
