Kristin O’Neal
every day is a bit different typically I spend 3 hours on scheduled calls with clients, an hour or so of follow up and last-minute problem solving for clients, 2-3 hours of preparation for meetings including research on my own and talking to other advisors or wholesalers for products and/or investment portfolios. some time on marketing & outreach to new prospective clients and also working with and assigning projects to my support staff.
What advice would you give someone considering this career?
Find an internship with an advisor, not with a firm, so you can learn about the business.
What is a book or movie that has inspired you?
the two most influential books i read before i became a financial planner are “get a financial life” by beth kobliner and “the money book for the young fabulous and broke” by Suze Orman.
Do you (or your company) offer internships or job shadow opportunities to high school students? If so, how would a student go about applying for one of those?
